Hello beautiful, I know there are countless skincare products in the marketplace right now, and it’s easy to get confused about which ones to use and which are right for you. Today, I decided to clear up all your skin concerns and confusion. Let’s begin.
There is a simple 3, 2, 1 rule you can follow to maintain healthy, glowing skin. By 3, we mean the basic essentials that everyone should include in their skincare routine, regardless of age or skin concerns. Even if you don’t have any skin issues, these three products are a must:
- Facewash
- Moisturizer
- Sunblock
If you have specific skin concerns that you need to address, then follow steps 2 and 1. In the 2 list, we have active ingredients that target particular skin problems. For example, if you have spots or acne marks you want to fix, or other specific issues, you can use these:
- Vitamin C
- Niacinamide
- Alpha arbutin
- Retinol
- Azelaic acid
- Peptides
- Hyaluronic acid
You can incorporate up to two active ingredients in the morning (AM) and two in the evening (PM) depending on your skin concerns. Each of these ingredients helps improve skin health, and I might discuss their benefits and what problems they address in a future blog.
For more advanced and powerful ingredients to tackle your skin issues more effectively, follow list 1. If you want to maintain your glow, seek an effective anti-aging product, or address pigmentation, you can add one more active ingredient to your routine. These ingredients are not for daily use but can be used weekly. In list 1, we have:
- Glycolic acid
- Salicylic acid
- Lactic acid
Depending on your skin issue, you can use any one of these once or twice a week, or at most, three times a week. This also depends on the concentration of the ingredients. If the product has a higher concentration, using it once a week will be sufficient. If the concentration is lower, you can use it two or three times a week. But always remember, “less is more.”
